Celebrate A Birthday With A Ride

What a great way to celebrate my sixty-eighth birthday - a bike ride with other bike riding enthusiasts.  We pulled into Venice at the Island Sun Inn to settle in for a couple of weeks of cycling.
Brother-in-law, Steve, did super on his introduction to group riding, and jumping right on to the Trek 5200 road bike we had brought along for him.  He too did the whole 50 mile ride, well, actually it came out to about 48.5 miles for Paul, Steve and I.  Paul's shoulder was hurting about 30 miles into the ride, but he did a Lance and dug out the pain killer, Ibuprofen, and finished the ride.  I was proud of him though, taking on a long ride for the first time out since his shoulder surgery.  There were 12 riders on the ride.  More will be arriving in the next few days.  We ate at the Gold Rush next door for dinner.  Paul had picked up a little carrot cake at Publix and it was passed around.

Steve is ready to roll our for the ride to Siesta Key.  Way to go brother in law!!!  So happy you came to Florida with us.
Stopping at Potter Park for a break and power-bars or nannas. Then we got silly and acted like little kiddies.
Stopping in downtown Siesta Key at The Sun Garden Cafe for lunch at the 30 mile mark. We'll be "happy" to seat you?

Bob and his pile of hummus and sprouts.  It keeps this 81 year old riding strong!
"Back at the Inn" relaxing after the bike ride.
